15 ways to decorate your favor box

I love kraft boxes. Be it the cute cube style, pillow style or even the lunch box type, kraft boxes are cool in my book. Just because it's brown, doesn't make it a bore.

Some people thinks that when you use kraft boxes for party favors, the only color available is just brown or neutral tones. Or else, it wouldn't fit the rustic theme of the party. You are so wrong. A splash of color is always welcome. Just don't make it a rainbow or you will loose the quiet elegance of these little boxes.

But how do you decorate these boxes and make your guest tingle with excitement when they receive one of these. Well, there are just so many. But the most classic way is definitely with the twine. Jute twine or bakers twine. Neutral color or red or blue or green. And of course, the many ways you can wrap the box with the twine.

Do you want to stay away from the traditional? sure:) You can also use other type of wraps. For wedding events, lace is always very popular. It'll gives your favor a bit of maturity and sophistication. If you want to have some color, try using cute patterned tape like washi tape. If you're not familiar with washi tape, they are basically very similar like masking tape. Just, cuter :p  It has a paper like texture and is actually not very sticky. Which makes it reusable, while also being biodegradable. Plus, it doesn't leave a sticky mess like duct tape. You're broke or have a tight budget to spend? look around the house for some fabric scrap and use them like a ribbon. It will definitely give a unique twist to your special gift.

 How to make fabric ribbon

How about some embellishment. The easiest would be to tie a cute thank you tag. Simple and understated. But if you want to go further, how about a flower. You can go both ways, real or fake. I wouldn't recommend using fresh flowers, but a dried lavender or any greens will do just fine. If you're going the faux way, paper flowers, burlap flowers, or even silk flowers will be a welcome addition.

Not much of a flower person, try out something unconventional like metal charms or wooden button. The beauty of these items, is that you can get them to match your theme. If it is a baby shower, use a stroller shaped charm or a owl button. For french theme party, you can use an Eiffel tower charm or button. It's that easy.

And finally, you can also decorate your craft box by merely using a pen. What am I talking about? Draw on your box, silly. Get crafty and decorate your box by drawing patterns and swirls. Your box will definitely be one of a kind. You're not good at drawing? You can still get the look with stamping. Get a cute pattern stamp, some ink and go crazy.

Geronimo

Everything's got to end sometime. Otherwise nothing would ever get started.
the 11th Doctor

It might be weird to be talking about the end so early when things are just beginning. So lets not dwell on that ^_^

If you know who the 11th Doctor is, you’ll know I’m a fan of the Doctor Who series. I’m just geeky that way. The idea of old world charm mix with a sci-fi futuristic twist is just what I love. I love rustic design but at the same time, I’m also passionate about the modern geometric look. Maybe it’s just because of my design background. But I do love the idea of looking to our past for inspiration to make something new.

In this blog I planned to share some of my inspirations and ideas for home decor. Be it a shabby chic design or something with modern clean lines. And perhaps, at times when the mood is right, I’ll even do a mash up of both.
